Automatic reasons for disqualification:
· Leaving teammate behind (each member must be within speaking distance of approx. 100 feet)
· Mode of travel not specified for each segment of race (ex: no riding bike on the hiking segment)
· Use of any electric navigation devices (no iPhones, smart phones or GPS units)
· Littering
· Non-assistance to person in danger
On the race course:
Each team will visit a series of checkpoints (CP’s) that are described on the Clue Sheet. You must visit the minimum number of checkpoints and using the mode of transportation described. The team that visits the most checkpoints in the least amount of time (within the time limit) will be the winner.
Each team will receive a control card (aka: Passport). You will punch the card at each checkpoint starting at the first square until you have visited all the checkpoints.
There will be no time penalty for missing the optional checkpoints. Teams that find all checkpoints will be ranked higher than teams that miss a checkpoint or checkpoints.
All original members of each team must check in together at each checkpoint. All members must remain within 100 feet of each other at all times during the event. All team members must cross the finish line at the same time. If a team member must withdraw, upon Race Official’s approval, they must do so at a Transition Area if possible.
No littering. Racers and spectators are asked to adhere to a “Leave no trace” ethic.
Teams must follow race instructions and avoid off-limits areas.
Teams must travel under their own power during the race. Any team using motorized transportation will be disqualified.
In Transition Areas:
Team members will not be allowed to receive support in the transition areas by anyone not racing. Non-team members are not allowed on the course without approval of Race Directors.
REQUIRED GEAR (See “Required Gear List” for in-depth information)
Teams must carry all required gear throughout each leg of the race. Gear checks may be performed on the race course. Each member must wear a Race Number at all times. Biking Helmets must be worn during all mounting biking. All team members must properly wear a Coast Guard Approved Type III Personal Floatation Device (life jackets)at all times when on water (please bring your own).

· Multipurpose knife

· Tire pump/CO2 cartridge inflater
· Spare tube
· The time recorded by the Race Staff will be the official time.
· Rules may be amended any time before event. Entrants will be notified of any changes.
· Team members must sign all waivers and attend the Safety and Pre-race Meetings.
· No illegal drugs shall be used during the event.
· We are not responsible for any stolen, lost or damaged equipment.
· Time penalties can results for failure to stay on the prescribed course, not carrying the required gear, not displaying Race Number or any unsportsmanlike conduct.
· All decisions of Race Management are final.
